Aileen Pierce is an adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon University Africa. She has been teaching courses on mobile app development, web development, and programming for 20 years, most recently as a teaching associate professor in CU Boulder’s College of Engineering. Pierce is passionate about inclusion and diversity in technology and is a co-founder of T9Hacks, a hackathon focused on increasing participation by women and underrepresented students in hackathons.

Before coming to higher education, Pierce spent nine years in Silicon Valley working at Oracle and then two startups, in product marketing and technical support. She holds a B.S. in math/computer science from Carnegie Mellon.
