Maps are important for both human drivers and self-driving vehicles. However, creating accurate maps is labor intensive and expensive. One way to address this challenge is to use the data collected by GPS sensors (in smartphones and vehicle navigation systems)) during their ordinary usage and data inference algorithms to extract road networks. In this talk Prof. Kumar will give a brief overview of this project and also provide summaries of other AI research projects at CMU-Africa.
