Vijayakumar Bhagavatula: Generating maps from GPS data

CMU-Africa Director Vijayakumar Bhagavatula's recent project involves extracting information about where the roads are from the GPS data collected from vehicles and smartphones. He explains that this project is very important as maps inform us on where we are going and also it can be used by self-driving vehicles. By collecting data in real-time from vehicles, he is able to provide more accurate information about where the roads are.
